WELCOME TO MRS. ESLER'S 7TH GRADE HOMEROOM PAGE! THANK YOU FOR VISITING!
I am so happy to be teaching literature to both 7th & 8th grade classes this year. In addition, I teach religion and English to my homeroom students. This is my 19th year in education!!!
7th graders have been reading about 'which way to go', our theme in unit 3 for literature. The stories are about people who need to make a choice in life that will most likely alter it forever.
In 8th grade literature, the theme is about mischievous/funny characters. This theme is so fun because many of the characters and stories are surprising. 8th grade is enjoying this theme and so am I.
In religion, we will be focusing on the Easter season when we return from Easter break. The studnets made their reconcilliation this month to prepare for Easter. We continue to pray together as a community of God's children.
As the 4th quarter begins, all students must have an AR book that they can read at school. The point requirement for the 4th quarter is 12 points.
If you are interested in joining St. Joan of Arc and would like to ask more questions about the literature/religion/Engish curriculm. Please feel free to reach out to me! I love to talk about what I love to teach!
The Accelerated Reader program is in full swing! Students will read books and then take a quiz on computers. Accelerated Reader grades are applied to the student’s literature grade for that quarter. Accelerated Reader grades are equivalent to a test grade. The Quarterly assignments will be gives out as a point total. Students will be required to earn a designated number of points each quarter. Points are earned by correctly answering quiz questions.
Fourth Quarter – 12 points
Students will supply their teacher with a book
proposal to inform us of the book(s) they will be reading. Book lists with reading levels and point values are available online at
www.arbookfind.com
Teachers have the option to veto any choices that are not appropriate (based on reading level, duplicates, class books, etc.) Students may read only one book per author. Books must have a minimum point value above 1.0.
It is the student’s responsibility to locate Accelerated Reader books of their choice.
