Geography Bee
Students in Grades 5 through 8 compete in the school’s annual Geography Bee. Answering questions about local, national and international geography, students vie for school top honor. As part of this National Geographic Society sponsored event, the finals are held in the school gymnasium in front of all of the students. Spelling Bee
Students in Grades 4 through 8 participate in this annual competition. Competition begins in the classrooms, with winners moving on to the school competition which is held in front of the student body assembly. From the school level, students can compete in regional and state contests.
Quiz Bowl

Robotics
Students in Grades 5 through 8 can participate in the SJA Robotics program. The school has multiple Lego Mindstorm sets with corresponding software. Students work as teams to create robots and program them to perform assigned tasks. Students compete with other schools regionally. This group is teacher and parent led, and meets after school in the Science Lab.
